Turkish Cuisine Cooking Demo and Wine Tasting Event
partnership with TD Bank, American Turkish Association of Washington DC
(ATA-DC) kicks off the 8th Turkish Restaurant and Cuisine Week, an
award winning international cuisine event, on Saturday, September 10 at
3-5 pm with a live cooking demo by two accomplished Turkish chefs,
delicious samples from the best Turkish restaurants and Turkish wine
tasting. The world famous Turkish coffee will be also served!
Simru Surmeli and Chef Efe Onoglu, who both worked at the top
restaurants in Istanbul and around the world, will showcase three
delicious recipes from Turkish cuisine: Mucver, a zucchini delicacy;
Haydari, a tangy yogurt dip and Purslane and Beet Salad, a healthy
culinary delight. Guests will have a chance to taste each recipe
following the demonstration while sipping their Turkish wine. After the
cooking demonstration, we will continue with a brief presentation on
Turkish culinary culture is renowned for its
diversity of resources, fresh ingredients and variety of recipes that
were influenced by Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
